Around Town

Creek Street SummerCreek Street in Summer
Historic Creek Street runs along Ketchikan Creek to its mouth, where the creek empties into the Tongass Narrows. Salmon can be seen spawning in the creek from July to September. Once home to Native Alaskans' summer fishing camps, white settlers used the creek here in the late 1800's and early 1900's for a water supply and power generation. Ketchikan grew from camp to city, and for a half century, Creek Street became the city's red light district. Today, visitors and locals alike can enjoy fine shopping in the many shops that line the wood-planked "street".

Ketchikan Alaska Waterfront
Ketchikan Alaska Waterfront
Ketchikan Alaska is located on Revillagigedo Island, is the southernmost and fourth largest city in Alaska. Ketchikan is often called the "First City" as travellers by sea arrive here first as they travel north from the "lower 48". Here, one finds the beauty of the Tongass Narrows and the Tongass Rain Forest, wildlife, and the nearby Misty Fjords National Monument, and a rich cultural heritage.
